Hawa Mahal
Hawa Mahal, also known as the Palace of Winds, is a palace located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, the founder of Jaipur. The palace is made of red and pink sandstone and is situated on the edge of the City Palace. It is a five-story pyramidal shaped monument that rises to about 50 feet (15 m) and has 953 small windows called Jharokhas decorated with intricate latticework. The original intent of the lattice design was to allow royal ladies to observe everyday life and festivals celebrated in the street below without being seen. This architectural feature also allowed cool air from the Venturi effect to pass through, thus making the whole area more pleasant during high temperatures in summer. Hawa Mahal is a popular tourist spot in Jaipur and is open from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM every day
